A great one year type coin. With full focus on supporting the WWII war effort, the U.S. government was prioritizing resources, including metals, to manufacture weaponry. As a result we see coins during this era being manufactured from "off" metals such as 35% silver war nickels and these zinc coated steel cents in lieu of bronze. This is a nice example graded MS67 by NGC. The San Francisco examples represent the lowest mintage, but that is relative based on the number struck. However higher grade coins become much rarer.
